Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse to join our team in Crewe. The successful candidate will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill newborns, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care. This role demands a high level of clinical skill, emotional resilience, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to neonates in the NICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing medical procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient, in collaboration with neonatologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with the stabilization and resuscitation of newborns, using advanced life support techniques.
  • Educate and support families, providing information on their baby’s condition, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as incubators, ventilators, and intravenous pumps.
  • Administer and manage intravenous medications and nutritional support.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions to stay current with the latest practices and technologies in neonatal care.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare team members to provide holistic and comprehensive care.
  • Implement infection control practices to prevent the spread of illness within the NICU.


  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a NICU or similar critical care environment.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills in neonatal nursing, including the use of advanced medical equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and educate families.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to newborns and their families.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications or training in neonatal nursing.
  • Experience with a variety of neonatal conditions and treatments.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare system in the Crewe region.
