  7. Infection control: School nurses ensure that the school maintains a clean and safe environment by implementing infection control measures, such as proper hand hygiene and sterilization of equipment.
  8. Communicating with parents: School nurses communicate with parents about their child's health concerns, medication administration, and any changes in their child's health status.
  9. Developing health policies: School nurses develop and implement health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  10. Collaboration with teachers and staff: School nurses work closely with teachers and staff to develop individualized plans for students with special needs, provide support for students with disabilities, and promote a healthy school environment.
  11. Providing referrals: School nurses refer students to community resources for mental health services, counseling, or specialty care when necessary.
  12. Maintaining health records: School nurses maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student health information, including immunization records, medication administration records, and health histories.
  13. Developing healthy habits: School nurses promote healthy habits among students, such as good hygiene practices, regular exercise, and healthy eating habits.
  14. Conducting screenings: School nurses conduct vision, hearing, and other screenings to identify potential health concerns early on.
