Job Description:
Nutrix Medical is looking for a skilled and dedicated Surgical First Assistant to join our team in Huddersfield. The Surgical First Assistant will play a vital role in the operating room, providing direct support to surgeons during various procedures. This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background in surgical care who is committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon during operative procedures, including tasks such as retracting, suctioning, and wound closure.
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure proper patient positioning and monitor the patient’s condition throughout the surgery.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures and patient care.
- Provide post-operative care and instructions to patients, ensuring a smooth recovery process.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, hospital policies, and clinical guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification as a Surgical First Assistant or equivalent, such as a PA with surgical training or an ODP with a surgical first assistant qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Surgical First Assistant role.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or other relevant professional bodies.
- Strong knowledge of surgical techniques, instrumentation, and patient care protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
