We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recovery Theatre Nurse to join our team in Hull. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the post-operative care of patients, ensuring they receive the highest standards of care during their recovery period. This role requires a nurse who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a calm and reassuring presence for patients and their families.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients’ vital signs and manage their recovery following surgery, ensuring safe and effective care in the immediate post-operative phase.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments upon arrival in the recovery area, identifying any immediate needs or concerns.
  • Pain Management: Administer pain relief and other medications as prescribed, observing patient responses and adjusting care as necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with anesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Patient Safety: Implement and adhere to safety protocols, maintaining a clean and sterile environment to prevent infections and complications.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient care, observations, and any interventions in line with hospital policies.
  • Support and Reassurance: Provide emotional support to patients and their families, answering any questions and explaining the recovery process.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any post-operative complications or emergencies.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay updated with best practices and advancements in nursing care.

 

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration.
  • Experience in Post-Operative/Recovery Care within a theatre environment, ideally in a private healthcare setting.
  • BLS/ACLS Certification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Empathy and compassion with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
